We have hit a Snag...
Hello Everyone! I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy. We have some good news and bad news.
Let's talk about the good new first...
It's not just good news, its great news. The first two weeks in July here have been the best thus far. We are looking to exceed June's sales. THAT IS GREAT! We have also been receiving lots of positive feed back from customers and people are really enjoy the store!
Now for the not so fun news. Despite the good direct we are going in, Tim and I have made the hard decision to send Tim back to work. With the set backs that we had to endure this spring with Covid-19, our funds have been depleted more then anticipated. With the decreased traffic in Elkhart Lake, sales at ELTP and Sara Cote Photography have not been what we needed to stay a float. But we are not giving up just yet.
A new plan...
Starting this week, Carol and Kathleen will be running our store Wednesday and Thursday 10-5, and Tim and Sara will be running the store Friday 10-5, Saturday 8-4, and Sunday 10-3. Tim will still be your contact for restocking your goods. If you have time and you would like to volunteer to run the store, please contact us. This will keep our store running the best it can!
Top Selling items and Top Requested Items
ELKHART LAKE STUFF!! Of course that is our number one requested item. I know some of you are currently working on these things, but keep them up! The one that was requested this morning was Elkhart Lake Sweatshirts. The word on the street this morning is that Gina's gifts were sold out of them.
Continuing to Move Forward!
Thank you so much for working with us everyone. Tim and I will be taking our family on a much needed weekend (July 17-19) getaway. We will be closed next week Sunday July 19th, unless someone would like to volunteer that day.
Thank you again!
Hello everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that things are starting to pick up in Elkhart and the farmers market starts this weekend! I want to thank everyone that has already brought stuff in, and look forward to this summer! As of right now, we will not be taking any new vendors in the store until further notice. This is a good thing, not bad, we are running out of room! We are happy to say we have been seeing a lot of new faces, and finding people have been seeing our stuff on Facebook and Instagram! If you haven't got your stuff in please contact us by Email.
It was a slow start, but we are starting to see new faces stop in from vacationers starting to come back into town! This also includes lake home owners in the area. We will be keeping the original plan on being closed on Monday and Tuesday unless its a holiday weekend we will be open. Our hours will be from 10am-5pm but will stay open later if its busy in town. Our Sunday hours will be 10-3 unless it's busy we may stay open a little later.
We are working on getting our inventory spreadsheets organized and printed so we can send out checks to any of you that have sold $40 or more. All checks and spreadsheets will be sent out by the 15th of this month due to the slow start. After this it will be monthly on the 15th of each month. Sara and I are working out the bugs in this process, and if you have any questions or tips please feel free to contact us!
Again, thank you all and hope everyone is doing great and staying healthy!
Sorry we haven't given an update lately. The stay at home order brought many new challenges to our family, as I'm sure it did to each of you as well.
We had a point where we weren't sure if we were even going to be able to continue making this happen, but we worked out a plan to be able to do what we have set out to do!
As we went live with our online store April 1st we have struggled to get any sales. I believe a big part of the struggle is nobody really knows what our products are and I strongly believe that once we get some shoppers through the door to see what we have that will change.
Open for Business-
Saturday 5/16/2020 was our first day open to the public! due to the current regulations we still couldn't have a ribbon cutting opening... We had a few people stop in and check out what we have to offer, we had some great conversations with people that live in the area, giving us a better feel on what people are saying around town and it is very pleasant! one of the biggest questions people asked us is "Are we going to sell anything with the Elkhart Lake logo"? and are we going to sell any T-shirts that say Elkhart Lake Trading Post?
If anyone would like to create any Elkhart Lake style item, please let us know! Weather its a pattern on fabric or something that is sculpted, painted, or shaped.
Sunday 5/17/2020 Heavy rain all day kept the town very quiet with no people out and about, we stayed open until 3pm and decided to close since there was no one out shopping.
Thank you everyone for making this happen, I believe we have a great future in Elkhart.
Hello everyone. It is with a heavy heart that we will be postponing the opening of the 111 E Rhine St location until further notice. But all is not lost! We have created an online store and are busy excepting friend requests and making all of your items available for purchase!
You can see the online store here! https://squareup.com/store/eltradingpost/
You can also find us on Facebook by searching Elkhart Lake Trading Post.
We will continue to work our butts off this week to keep everything moving forward! I hope you all stay healthy and safe in the coming weeks!
Sara & Tim
Hello Everyone! Sara Here! Thank you so much for coming today! Tim and I are so excited to be working with all of you! Seeing your products in the store are really starting to bring this dream alive!
We have some events coming up in the Month of April!
Wednesday April 1st at 10 am will be our ribbon cutting ceremony! I encourage everyone to be apart of that!
Saturday April 25th will be Elkhart Lake's 4th annual Shop & Sip event! This will be a store wide discount event! More information can be seen here: www.elkhartlake.com/event
I appreciate everyone's patience with me and feeling my way through this process. If you see something that does not make sense or if you think a process could go better, let us know! We really want to make this store work and be profitable for everyone!
At todays meeting, it was brought to my attention that I had some things in the contract were backwards, which made things confusing and wrong. Sarah Hansen and I worked through it. Now the explanations in the contract are easier to read and understand.
I have made those available for you all here. If you would like get me a signature page over to me by March 31st, that would be great!
Tim will be at the shop this week. To avoid any backups or missed connections, please let us know when you will be arriving.
Please stay healthy everyone!
Hello Everyone! Saturday is coming quickly! I did have some great questions from my last email.
"I will not be able to attend March 14th, can I bring my items on a different day?"
If you will not be able to attend the meeting on Saturday, and would like to bring your items in on a different day, that is totally fine! Send us an email and set up a meeting time. Please bring your items in before March 31st.
"Should I mark my items with my prices/ should I use my branded tags?"
This is a great question. I will be adding barcodes to all of your items. If you have a branded tag, yes! Please use them. We will add our barcode to your tags. Also, please bring your business cards so they can be placed next to your items.
"Will we be assigned a vendor number?"
We will be assigning a vendor number to your account on Saturday. You will not have to remember this number. We will keep it in our records.
I am still working on a revised contract and will have it for all of you soon!!
Thank you everyone!
We have been feverishly working on getting the store ready to go! Both literally and figuratively. This month has hit the Cote Family hard. I myself had the flu for 14 days. That was not a vacation that I wanted to take. But we have a few things to share with you!
Our street sign is currently in production. It will be finished around March 16th.
We will be having our final meeting March 14th at Switch Gear 1- 3pm. At this meeting we will be collecting contracts and product. Watch your email for a revisited contract and submission form. If you are unable to attain, we will be accepting goods until March 29th.
We will be having a ribbon cutting for the shop on April 1st. I would like to invite all of you this event. I will be scheduling it this week and will let you know here when more information becomes available!
Stay healthy everyone!
